    Cash or Credit?

I'm currently in the credit card universe - all the way. Once the stores I shop added self-checkout, I went cashless. I don't let the debt accumulate, I pay it off fully in several early payments throughout the billing period. I do try to leave a few dollars unpaid so it comes due at the end of...

Have you ever had to go back and learn something of your own?

I submitted 10 recordings (songs) as a collection, one file at a time. I submitted no sheet music, lyrics or other documents. I was asked if it was intended to be a CD for resale - I replied no, just for copyright and personal use. I took screenshots of the whole online procedure, then filed...

Have you ever had to go back and learn something of your own?

I did this when I wanted to register the copyrights for all my songs from 1974 to 2015. I hadn't played them in. . . forever, so I relearned and practiced for about a month, then recorded them on a DP-03SD Porta Studio - just a single acoustic and single vocal using the internal mics. Then I put...

Tascam interface Last Straw (bye bye Tascam - hello MOTU)

Well, the ol' MOTU M2 has been in operation for 8 months now and no problems. The only nit is I'm hearing a teeny 'tick' when I turn it on, then a slightly louder 'tick' when turning it off - even with headphone volume all the way down. None of that while operating. Just @ ON/OFF.

Now that's what a rock band's supposed to look like

That sounds like 80's MTV. Nuthin' wrong with that.

Now that's what a rock band's supposed to look like

Can't argue with the Peppers. Though I'm not a big fan, there's at least one song of theirs I really like. The guitar and bass work on Under The Bridge are excellent, IMHO. I used to play bass very much like that when I was high - in my younger days :guitar:

Can I transfer a project created in DAW to TASCAM 488?

 I hear ya. I had 4 years of French and 4 of Spanish, but in those days it was not taught as conversational.

    Old microphones

Man . . . $6000 . . . WHEW! I read a bit closer on the 412 and it says it can be phantom powered by a tape recorder. I knew consoles could deliver phantom power, but I wasn't aware tape recorders could do this. Interesting stuff. The C-412 may be phantom powered by the c.c. supply in most input...

    Old microphones

I'm always checking out microphones I see on old TV shows - game shows mostly. In my online searches today, I came across these two sites. The first has the Shure SM5, and the second is a Reverb page with some nice pics of one for sale at the time but has sold...
