Question about smoking cigarettes in next room over from equipment.

Gee, I didn't think anyone ever smoked in a recording studio in the old days, what with musicians being such a health conscious bunch as a rule. 🚬

Music I like, what do you like??

One of my favorite Jack Bruce compositions!

    What's goin' on with everybody

Doobie, it's funny you mention that. Some years back, I decided to go downtown one night to catch a concert. While I'm rocking out, my son called the house to check on me. I didn't answer. He called my cell phone... I didn't answer. You can't hear a phone ring when Gov't Mule is...

What are general loudness levels for radio mastering

Do radio stations even care what your LUFS/RMS levels are? They are going to compress/limit and maybe EQ it to fit into their parameters. I was listening to a song on a local FM station a few days ago while driving. I also had the same song on a flash drive in the car as a 320k MP3...

    Cash or Credit?

Interestingly, I'm working at the PGA Championship this weekend. Everything there is cashless. I remember when I worked at the Ryder Cup in 2008. Everything was marked so that it was exact dollars when tax was included, but they did accept cash. If you bought a towel, it was $18.87...

    I.Q.

Yeah, and if you drink enough, you see even more balls on the table. SOMETHING has to go in a pocket when there are that many balls in front of you!

I know about billiards. If you're lucky, you can have a nice billiard room with a big green dinner table in it and those long pot passers. Very handy for passing around that big pot of possum innards! Uncle Jed and Granny had a really nice one with a bunch of billiards on the walls!

    Cash or Credit?

Don't forget the yellow Top Value stamps, or the coupons on the back of cigarette packs.

    Northern lights

I didn't go outside last night to try to see the lights. I'm in the city, so the ambient light is pretty strong much of the time. Plus I had an early tee time, so I went to bed by 11. There were a LOT of pics on the TV news this morning.

    Cash or Credit?

I was in line at the local Walmart, and a fellow in the line in front of me pulled out his wallet and tried to hand the "cashier" some money, and the lady said "this is a card only line". We were both flabbergasted! I've had that happen at a self checkout before. Credit/debit only. I...

Now that's what a rock band's supposed to look like

He grew up here. A couple of the guys from DOTN still live here. Jesse and Mat both live just across the river in Southern Indiana. I think Todd lives near Nashville.

Now that's what a rock band's supposed to look like

You must be talking about Travis Meeks. A truly tortured soul.... He did an excellent job on some other Doors songs as well, including working with Robbie Krieger's band some years ago.

    What's goin' on with everybody

DG, I would, but as I tell my golfing partners when I'm hunting for that lost golf ball, "I need to find it. After all, I'm a retiree on a fixed income"!

Music I like, what do you like??

For me, that was some of the best stuff that Yes ever did. I played the DAYLIGHTS out of Close to the Edge. The 8 track was in the car, and the album was in bedroom on the turntable.

Fleetwood Mac - "Dreams" jazz reharmonization

Serendipity, for me, the biggest issue was the off pitch vocals. I always cringe when I hear them. It just seems well out of your range, and you're struggling to get there. I sort of agree that transposing to a more natural key might help. What if you moved it to Bb/C rather than F/G...

    What's goin' on with everybody

C'mon DG. You need to step into the 2020's. Prince's 1999 is classic rock now! Disco has already had a revival (it think it's due to return again), and VHS tapes were still holding on over DVDs. Y2K didn't happen, so you can come out of the bomb shelter!!! BTW, I keep...

    What's goin' on with everybody

Why would you think Cakewalk is dead? Bandlab took ownership of the Sonar and Cakewalk programs from Gibson when they were divesting themselves of a bunch of stuff they shouldn't have bought in the first place. https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk I doubt that it is the same program...

    Start/stop recording with footswitch ??

I've never needed or used a foot switch. I actually think it would be more distracting to me to have to have to start with a switch. It's much easier to just arm the track start recording at a point earlier than you need. Either split out the part you don't need, or mute it if you want...
