I’m looking at DB25 connector as I’m going into my DB25 ins and outs on my Audient ASP 880 over ADAT to interface.
When I come to track my drums I can use the rack as external FX..
And when I use the rack mic pres to track I can just press the AD button the front of...
Good clean recordings can be had with cheap modern day interfaces….
But it’s not just about that…it’s how much clean gain the pre amp offers…
Then we get into driving the preamp into harmonic distortion and transformers costing more…
Use what drives your mojo…and what you can afford…

Sure, I want to experiment with new microphones and placement and recording using different mics. I didn’t have £1000 to spend on one mic when I began recording drums. So I bought the Shure mic kit.
Now I can get a good drum sounds with it, I want to learn using different microphones like...
I want to try an M88 on the Kick, a Mono M160 OH a Cole’s room a M201 on snare etc…and have a play…the Shure DMK57-52 Drum Microphone KiT has done me proud and I can get an excellent drum recording…but I’ve out grown it…
The beauty is I can throw a SM57 on my guitar cab along with a M160...

They recorded basic rhythm tracks on 3 tracks and these were bounced down to the 4th track leaving tracks 1-3 free for more overdubbing….I know they used at least two 4 track tape machines…
They would have used well more than 8 tracks…
I‘m not looking at what they would have done If they had the tracks…I’m asking about how many tracks roughly would they have needed to get the same results in Pepper without the bounce downs.

Beatles recorded Sgt Pepper using a 4-track machines. So focus is on that Album,
