Several days ago, I tried opening an older Reaper project which has AmpliTube 4 & 5 on several tracks. The project would not open. When Reaper tried loading Amp 5 it locked up and a little pop-up window opened with something to the effect Amp 5 was not available to be accessed and my only option to clear the screen was to click a button to eliminate or remove it (Amp 5). When I did this, AmpliTube 5 was deleted from my FX library and could not be found on my PC anywhere !!! Then the loading proceeded and loaded without Amp 5.
So I opened my IK Product Manager and see that my AmpliTube 5 is queued for an update. I run the update and after it installs I see that Amp 5 is now back in my PC and everything works as before. Opening the previous Reaper project goes smoothly.
This was very irritating. Am I to go through this every time an IK product update is available? Then as I'm leaving the IK site, a pop-up advises me that if I'm using a subscription for a product, it's only active for 72 hours - I have to check into their website every 72 hours to keep it activated. I don't have any of their subscriptions, but if I did, and after seeing this notification, I would immediately uninstall their products and find another non-subscription developer to fill my needs.
After resolving my situation, I waited 72 hours and reopened my Reaper project to see if my Amp 5 was still available. Fortunately, this has not affected my install as it's still there and working nicely. But !! Should this occur again when the next update comes around, I may just uninstall it anyway and find another sim.
